The Three Mus’car’teers!

April 23rd, 2009 by Chris

Yesterday me and a friend were talking and the subject of road trips come up (and how much we like them). This sparked off a memory in my head about a poster I saw last year in my SU. The poster was about a Europe banger car road trip where people basically drive round Europe for a couple of days praying their car doesn’t break down. I remember thinking at the time, what a bloody good idea! After some encouragement off said friend, I decided that this year was as good as any to do it.

Now all I needed was some willing passengers! I actually expected finding 2 people quite hard considering how much it was probable to cost, but no… first two people I asked thought it was a great idea. After talking to both of them we decided that it would be a great idea if we did this for charity.

The cause we’ve chosen isn’t actually a charity as such, but instead helping two of friends who are doing something amazing to raise money for the charity “Women for Women”. In a nutshell they are going to cycle 450km across China in just 5 days! Any money we raise will added onto their total.

So ye, now we had our trio, but we actually needed to find the website and get registered. After a bit of Googling we found the website: Motocape Rally. There was a couple of different rallies that we could have chosen but we liked this one because:

  • Bit cheaper
  • Good route (we’re driving over the Alps)
  • Fancy Dress competition! (link)
  • Generally looks better organised.

So now we just needed to register and get our names down. To do this though, we needed to think of our team name and theme. To be honest we chose the first decent thing we could, which was as the title suggests is the ‘Three Musketeers’.

Fast forward to tonight, and we’re now fully registered and thinking towards how we are going win this rally (especially the best dress competition). If you have any ideas, pass them on! Also if you know of a decent car going for less than £250, let us know via Facebook.

We’ve started a Facebook group which you can join here:

Ciao for now…
